We published our book on the Greek village of Gavra in late 2012. It is written in Swedish and published by the Swedish quality publisher Arkiv förlag (www.arkiv.nu). We are planning to translate the book into English.

 

Here you can find a short summary of the book, its key arguments, and the kind of data and conclusions it contains. The Swedish edition of the book has 316 pages, including maps, graphs, tables, photos, endnotes and bibliographies.

 

The book is the result of a researchproject – The Gavra project – which was accomplished during the years 1999–2012 by a team of researchers led by professor Gunnar Olofsson.

 

We presented a paper on what the emigrants brought back to Greece from their stay in Sweden – in terms of ecomnomic resources, changing habits and changed habitus – at the 11th conference of the European Sociological Association in Torino, August 28th–31st, 2013.
